The Biochemist's unyielding dedication to research and experimentation have raised them to the summit of scientific knowledge. Now that their proficiency with potions and chemicals is unmatched, they are on the verge of manipulating the very laws of nature! Biochemists are a much stronger class than the Alchemists, provided there are sufficient funds and SP for the new skill Acid Bomb× (often abbreviated to "AB" or "AD" as it is known as Acid Demonstration on some other official servers.). While Alchemists were more of a melee class, Biochemists tend to level with skills other than Cart Revolution× and Mammonite×. Many invest a great amount of their stat ponts into INT and level with Acid Bomb or magic attacks from weapons (i.e. Fire Bolt× through the weapon Fireblend) and Homunculi instead. Biochemists are a popular class in iRO because of the amount of damage they can deal, along with the current lack of methods to counter their offensive skills, when they are used properly. Job Change Guide To become a Biochemist, you must find a book called 'the Book of Ymir' in 'Sage Castle', Juno×. The book will lead you to Valhalla so you can change your job through the Lord Knight job NPC×. Also you must reach at least job level 40 as a transcendent 1st class character. 1.Sage Castle is located at 11 o'clock direction (yuno 88,320) in Juno. 2.'Book of Ymir' is located inside a room behind an NPC called Metheus Sylphe (yuno_in02 88,164). 3.The Book of Ymir (yuno_in02 94,206) will teleport you to Valhalla. 4.Find and talk to a job NPC suited to your 2nd class. Note After becoming a Biochemist, if the player knew Bioethics× in their prior life, they can regain it by speaking to the Job Change NPC in Valhalla a second time. Builds Acid Bomb (VIT) STR× 1 AGI× 1 VIT× 70-80 INT× 99 (base) DEX× 75-85+ LUK× 1 The VIT-heavy AB build gets the most out of the Alchemist skills Aid Potion× and Potion Research×. It's a good choice for soloing MVP×s that stun or damage lock. This build can also make a good tank in WoE×. Suggested skills are Acid Bomb Lv. 10, Aid Potion Lv. 5, Potion Research Lv. 10, Homunculus Resurrection× Lv. 1, and either Full Chemical Protection× Lv. 5 or Aid Condensed Potion× Lv. 10 ,Armor×/Weapon×/Shield×/Helm× coatings all at Lv. 3, or Full Chemical Protection. Acid Bomb (DEX) STR 1 AGI 1 VIT 1-70 INT 99 (base) DEX 95-149 LUK 1 The DEX-heavy AB build maximizes damage output with Acid Bomb. They aim to cast Acid Bomb faster than their MVP competition or while attacked by other players without the cast being interrupted. The skills suggested are the same as for the VIT version. Though, the Chemical Protections aren't as important for this type of character; instead, consider Summon Flora× and Aid Condensed Potion. At 150 dexterity, the bombing rate is slower than 149 Dexterity despite being instant cast due to the introduction of an irreducible delay. To bomb as quickly as possible, it would be ideal to have 149 Dexterity, 190 attack speed, and be in Magic Strings× AB/Potter STR 1 AGI 1 VIT 40-60 INT 93-99 (base) DEX 66-76 (base) LUK 37-67(base) This Biochemist build is built for WoE, and at the same time, enjoys good potting success. (base pot success chance of abt 75%-80% at max job level) The LUK also makes up for the lack of high VIT for status resistance in WoE. LUK also helps in resisting effects such as Frozen× status and Stone×, which can be devastating in WoE. Low VIT also means that this class is also good for taking on other Biochemist's Acid Bomb. Potter (MC) STR 1 AGI 1 VIT 1 INT 94-99 (base) DEX 36 (base) LUK 94-99 (base) A Biochemist built for Prepare Potion× should be built for Marionette Control× to maximize the success rate. Getting 99 base INT rather than DEX can be preferable as it boosts Acid Bomb damage considerably and lowers the Prepare Potion success rate by only ~0.25%. Hybrid If the concept of making a character primarily dependent on one skill is not appealing, Biochemists can also be built like a normal battle Alchemist. Invest stat points into STR and AGI but be sure to keep INT in mind for Acid Bomb. Fair warning though, a significant drop in INT will cause the damage of Acid Bomb to drop. Tactics PvM Acid Bomb while expensive yields good exp-rates (20m exp/hour) in maps like Thanatos Tower and Biolabs 3. Try to get a Priest to cast Lex Aeterna× on the monster first though. Slaves are affordable compared to the 10m zeny+ per hour of leveling costs for this method. MVP The cost of Acid Bomb is overcome by the zeny gained from MVPing while solo or in small parties. A Biochemist will usually beat the competition on almost any MVP. With enough VIT, it's possible to solo MVPs that most people have trouble tanking. PvP Acid Bomb will one-shot a considerable amount of players in PvP×. WoE A Biochemist is an excellent tank, has access to Chemical Protections and can kill the enemy tanks with ease. They, along with a properly scripted AI for their Homunculus, are one of the best WoE-classes. Equipment A Biochemist built for Acid Bomb should aim for equipment that adds INT or, sometimes, that gives a significant amount of DEX. However, these equipments are a general guide. Agora, o governo federal propõe uma nova reforma, para ampliar a capacidade de fomento à cultura e aumentar as formas como o produtor pode acessar os recursos. Saiba o que muda com o projeto que será enviado ao Congresso Nacional FNC – O Fundo Nacional de Cultura já existe na atual Rouanet, mas permite apenas doação de 80% do valor do projeto, com 20% de contrapartida. Com a Nova Rouanet, o FNC poderá fazer empréstimos, associar-se a projetos culturais e fazer repasse para fundos municipais e estaduais. Isso permitirá que o Fundo Nacional de Cultura se torne mais atrativo para produtores culturais e se transforme, verdadeiramente, numa alternativa para aqueles que não conseguem captar financiamento via renúncia. Renúncia fiscal – O mecanismo continua existindo, assim como a CNIC (Comissão Nacional de Incentivo à Cultura), que analisa os projetos. A única mudança é que, em vez de apenas ter duas faixas – de 30% e 100% – passa a ter mais quatro – 60%, 70%, 80% e 90%. A lei vai definir quais os critérios serão usados pela CNIC, que, além de analisar aspectos orçamentários do projeto, vai analisar em qual faixa ele se encaixa. Após sua aprovação, em 1991, ela já foi alterada algumas vezes e sofreu regulamentações. Agora, o governo federal propõe uma nova reforma, para ampliar a capacidade de fomento à cultura e aumentar as formas como o produtor pode acessar os recursos. Saiba o que muda com o projeto que será enviado ao Congresso Nacional FNC – O Fundo Nacional de Cultura já existe na atual Rouanet, mas permite apenas doação de 80% do valor do projeto, com 20% de contrapartida. Com a Nova Rouanet, o FNC poderá fazer empréstimos, associar-se a projetos culturais e fazer repasse para fundos municipais e estaduais. Isso permitirá que o Fundo Nacional de Cultura se torne mais atrativo para produtores culturais e se transforme, verdadeiramente, numa alternativa para aqueles que não conseguem captar financiamento via renúncia. Renúncia fiscal – O mecanismo continua existindo, assim como a CNIC (Comissão Nacional de Incentivo à Cultura), que analisa os projetos. A única mudança é que, em vez de apenas ter duas faixas – de 30% e 100% – passa a ter mais quatro – 60%, 70%, 80% e 90%. A lei vai definir quais os critérios serão usados pela CNIC, que, além de analisar aspectos orçamentários do projeto, vai analisar em qual faixa ele se encaixa. Ryota Matsumoto (松本良多) is one of the most prominent philosophers of postdigital theory and visual artist known for the hybrid art. He is a principal and founder of an award-winning interdisciplinary design office, Ryota Matsumoto Studio based in New York and Tokyo. Born in Tokyo, he was raised in Hong Kong and Japan. He received a Master of Architecture degree from University of Pennsylvania in 2007 after his studies at Architectural Association in London, Mackintosh School of Architecture, Glasgow School of Art and University of Miami in early 90’s. Matsumoto has previously collaborated with a cofounder of the Metabolist Movement, Kisho Kurokawa, and with Arata Isozaki, Peter Christopherson, Cesar Pelli and MIT Media Lab before establishing his office. As a designer and consultant of Nihon Seikei Inc. and Japanese railway, he has worked on high-profile projects including Kyushu University Ito Campus masterplan(2003-2005), Shinjuku redevelopment project in Tokyo(2009-2012), Bach Mai hospital in Hanoi(2000) and Qingdao mixed-use development in China(2011). He has presented his work on posthumanism, digital design and bio art at the 5th symposium of the Imaginaries of the Future at Cornell University, the Espaciocenter workshop at TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, Oslo National Academy of the Arts, UCI Claire Trevor School of the Arts and NTT InterCommunication Center as a visual artist. As a video producer, he has worked with Peter Christopherson for Japanese Nike commercial and contributed to the promotional projects for his first solo album as Threshold Houseboys Choir. His academic career started as a teaching assistant for architectural historian, Vincent Joseph Scully Jr. and his seminar, the Natural and Manmade in 1993. During his visiting fellowship at the Glasgow school of Art, he has been engaged in research on the process of integrated urban regeneration under the guidance of Giancarlo De Carlo and Isi Metzstein. He continued his pursuit in urban studies and participated in seminal research projects with MIT Media Lab and KieranTimberlake exploring high-rise modular housing, sustainability and design interventions for Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2005. He has served as an MFA advisor of Transart institute, University of Plymouth and teaches at Asagaya Institute of Art and Design as a professor of practice. He is a research associate at the New Centre of Research Practice found by Mohammad Salemy, Jason Adams and Reza Negarestani. Matsumoto is the recipient of Visual Art Open First Prize, FILE (Electronic Language International Festival) Prix Lux Prize, Florence Biennale Mixed Media 2nd Place Award, Premio Ora Prize Italy 5th Edition, Premio Ora Prize Spain 1st Edition, Donkey Art Prize III Edition Finalist, Best of Show IGOA Toronto, Art Kudos Best of Show Award, Lynx International Prize Be Art Builder Award, Lumen Prize Finalist and Western Bureau Art Prize Honorable Mention. Photos by Jim Dubois Mention the word “succulent” and plants might not be the first thing that springs to mind. A juicy steak...now that’s succulent. Still, with water-savings such a hot topic these days, it might be time to consider the virtues of succulent plants. Succulent is the name given to a variety of juicy plants belonging to a variety of plant families. Some of the better-known succulents include aloe, cactus, agave and yucca, but not all succulents are cacti. Plant succulence is an evolutionary modification to extreme heat and a dry, arid environment. One family of wild native plants – stonecrops – may be found growing in the most inhospitable environs in a pavement crack, a pile of concrete, a gravel heap, a rocky slope or seaside in a thimbleful of sand. Stonecrops (sedums) are succulent plants possessing pudgy, swollen leaves filled with juice; this adaptation allows the plant to retain and store water over long periods of time. The star-shaped golden flowers, resembling saxifrage, are literally dew-kissed, filled with juicy nectar. Nectar-seeking fauna such as butterflies must think they’ve found the land of milk and honey upon finding stonecrop. Thirsty red spider mites (Tetranychus urticae) thrive on stonecrop juice. In the Pacific Northwest, four Sedums are commonplace Oregon stonecrop, spreading stonecrop, broad-leaved stonecrop and lance-leaved stonecrop. All grow as perennials on ledges, rocky ridges, scree outcrops or other dry open sites. Long ago, sedums were nicknamed “live-long” because they remain fresh long after they are picked. “Sedum” comes from the Latin “sedeo,” to sit, referring to the succulents’ squatty habit of attaching to stones and rocks. The name “stonecrop” derives from an Old English word meaning “that which is gathered off stones.” The future looks bright for our beloved stonecrops. Due to their ability to withstand heat and retain water, stonecrops rushed to the forefront of the “green” rooftop movement, along with a variety of BC native plants including wild onions, brodiaea, common camas lilies and bearberry. The benefits of a planted roof are many thermal insulation, improved air quality, reduced urban heat, and deflection of noise. Plants in soil return moisture to the atmosphere through the processes of evaporation and transpiration. Possibly the number-one reason to take green living to the rooftops is to create habitat and refuge for flora and fauna. Butterflies, ladybugs and other wildlife flock to lush rooftop gardens; this ecological compensation cannot be underestimated, particularly within our concrete jungles. Long before the concept of green rooftops, First Nations groups ate stonecrop to alleviate thirst and hunger, and some stonecrops are still cultivated for food use in Holland. As a salad green, stonecrop is said to be peppery, thus another nickname “wall-pepper.” Gardeners know stonecrops as attractive, hardy plants, non-invasive and tidy, that will grow in a hot spot without care in barely a speck of sand. These rock-hugging perennials with starry yellow flowers will surely be valued more and more as the precious resource of water becomes increasingly scarce.
